Quick answer
Enterlace is a certified Lutron dealer in Boca Raton installing scene lighting control and motorized shades across South Florida. Retrofit systems for main living areas run $3,500 to $9,000; whole-home wired systems for new construction start around $20,000. Automated solar shades cut afternoon heat gain on west-facing glass before the air conditioner has to fight it. Free design: (561) 299-0133.
Lighting is the one system in a home that everybody touches, every day. It is also the one most likely to be a bank of nine unlabeled switches by the kitchen entry that only one person in the house has memorized. Lighting control fixes that with scenes: a few labeled buttons that set whole rooms correctly at once.
Enterlace is a certified Lutron installer serving Boca Raton, Parkland, Delray Beach, Weston and the surrounding South Florida communities. We design lighting and shade systems for new builds and retrofit them into finished homes.
What lighting control changes day to day
- Scenes instead of switches: Welcome, Cook, Dine, Movie, Goodnight. One button sets fifteen loads to the right level.
- Engraved, labeled keypads replace the switch banks with something a guest can read and use correctly.
- Automatic schedules put exterior and landscape lighting on astronomic time so it follows sunset year-round, not a clock you keep resetting.
- Vacation and away behavior: the house looks lived in while you are gone, and one button locks it down when you leave.
- Warm dimming: lights that shift warmer as they dim, the way incandescent used to, instead of going dim and blue.
- Real energy savings: dimming to 70% roughly halves fixture power draw and extends lamp life significantly.
Motorized shades in a Florida climate
Shades are not a luxury item in this state; they are thermal management. West and south-facing glass loads a room with heat all afternoon, which your air conditioner then fights at full cost. Shades that close automatically based on sun position stop that before it starts. The reasoning is set out in more detail in our guide to automation in a Florida home.
- Sun-tracking automation. Shades adjust through the day by sun angle to control glare and heat gain without darkening the room.
- Solar screens for view retention cut UV and heat while keeping the water or golf course view intact.
- Blackout in bedrooms and media rooms. Side channels and proper pockets for genuine darkness, not a bright outline.
- Two-story and hard-to-reach glass. Motorized is the only sane option on windows nobody can reach.
- Wired or battery. Hardwired during construction, quality battery motors for retrofit with multi-year life.
- UV protection. Meaningful reduction in fading on hardwood, art and upholstery.
Retrofit versus new construction
Lutron RA3 and Caséta wireless systems retrofit into finished homes without opening walls. We swap the switches, add keypads where they make sense, and program the scenes. It is one of the highest-impact upgrades available for the money.
On new construction, a wired HomeWorks system gives you centralized panels, cleaner walls, and control over every load in the house including landscape, cove and cabinet lighting. That decision has to be made before rough-in, which is why we like being in the conversation early.
