Whole-home wired HomeWorks systems in new construction generally start around $20,000 and scale with load count. Scoping room by room lets you phase it.

What is the difference between Lutron Caséta, RA3 and HomeWorks?

They are three tiers of the same idea. Caséta is the entry system: retail hardware, a modest device limit, ideal for a handful of rooms or a condo. RA3 is the dealer tier most of our retrofits use: far more devices, proper engraved keypads, timeclock scheduling, shade integration and a processor that holds the programming rather than a hub in a cupboard. HomeWorks is the wired, whole-home system for new construction and gut renovations: centralized dimming panels, control of every load in the house, and the finish options designers ask for. The honest short version is that most finished homes should be looking at RA3, and most new builds should be looking at HomeWorks.

Can I just buy Caséta myself and install it?

Yes, and for a few rooms that is often the right call. Caséta is sold at retail and is genuinely straightforward if your wiring has a neutral at the switch. Where it stops being a DIY job is scale and programming: engraved keypads, multi-room scenes, shade integration and timeclock behaviour are RA3 and HomeWorks territory, and those are dealer-programmed platforms. We are happy to tell you on the phone which side of that line your project falls on.

Do motorized shades really lower cooling bills in Florida?

Yes, and noticeably on west-facing glass. Automated solar shades block a large share of solar heat gain before it enters the room, which reduces how hard and how long the air conditioner runs during peak afternoon hours. The comfort difference in the room is usually what people mention first.

Can I install lighting control without rewiring my house?

In most cases yes. Lutron wireless systems replace existing switches and dimmers in place and communicate over their own reliable RF protocol rather than your Wi-Fi. Whole-home wired systems are for new construction or major renovation.

Will the shades work with my automation and voice control?

Yes. Shades integrate with the same app and keypads as your lighting, can be tied into whole-home automation scenes, and work with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home where you want voice control.

What happens to my lighting during a power outage?

When power returns, the system comes back to a known state and resumes its schedules automatically. No reprogramming, no re-pairing. Keypads keep working locally even if internet is still down.
